Several substations out causing widespread power outages in southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa

Cresco, IA | Rushford, MN (9:30 p.m. Dec. 15, 2021)— MiEnergy Cooperative’s service territory is experiencing widespread power outages due to the storm that rolled through this evening. The cooperative is reporting approximately 7,500 services without power. Several substations in Iowa and Minnesota without power. It is expected that as power is restored to each substation, there could be several hundred services that come back online at once because each substation can power several hundred to 1,000 services. However, crews are still accessing the damages and will be working through the night to restore power.

MiEnergy would like to remind the public that if they see a downed power line it should be reported and to stay away and keep others away as it could be live.
